Here are two new TV shows I’ve recently burned through that I recommend putting on your weekend watch list!
Extraordinary
Extraordinary is exquisite. When I first read the synopsis, it didn’t immediately grab me, but the 100% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes absolutely did. The show is set in a reality where everyone gets superpowers on their 18th birthday – well almost everyone. Jen is extraordinary in that – by age 25 – she still hasn’t. While it might sound like “another superhero show”, it absolutely is not. It’s hilarious and set in the UK with a killer soundtrack and a diverse cast to boot. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne
This somewhat sensationalist-sounding show is surprisingly good. It features Cara Delevingne as she talks to scientists, researchers, and general people on a range of topics on human sexuality, including attraction, relationships, and unconscious biases. I was particularly moved by episode 1, which shows Cara going to Palm Springs for Dinah Shore weekend and connecting with her queer community. Her openness to exploring and learning is very endearing as you bear witness to her own self-discovery along the way. Plus, the show is quite educational, and does a great job highlighting some interesting, and even surprising, studies. You will definitely walk away from each episode having learned something!
